After a year of hard work. The team at Oakland's have finished the refurbishment of the kitchen & bathroom showroom. There has been a few set backs along the way, but they were able to celebrate the opening with two preview evenings at the end of September. It all flowed smoothly and was a complete success, everybody enjoyed the food and drink available which added to the celebrations. The team enjoyed positive feedback on the finish & grandeur of the showroom, which was only accomplished by means of the suppliers who made sure that only their top quality products made it in to the displays.

The winners of our prize draw were selected at random by a representative from Lloyds TSB.

One Hundred Years of Expertise and a New Eco-Showroom for Oaklands

It’s a doublecelebration for Oakland Interior Specialists. Not only are we celebrating ourhundredth year in business but we have also pulled out all the stops to createa beautiful new showroom in the heart of Blaby.

On show are awide variety of products including aspirational bathrooms from such companiesas Ideal Standard, Victoria and Albert and Burlington, solid oak furniture fromStonearth and fitted furniture from Eco Bathrooms, with each display includinga creative tile design, with tiles from Porcelanosa.

We have some luxury kitchens on display fromMereway that have been fitted out with Siemens appliances, some of which are functional,allowing us to hold some culinary evenings in the future both to showcase theappliances and show off our cooking skills!

The showroomitself has gone through a major refurbishment with the majority of the workbeing carried out by Oakland’s own workforce and contractors. This has enabledus to install a number of green measures including an eco-friendly lightingsystem. Our new heating system utilizes solar thermal panels to provide 60% ofour hot water needs, and an air source heat pump to run the underfloor heatingand radiators. Air source heat pumps are an energy efficient alternative totraditional boiler systems running with oil and gas. They use the free energyavailable in the air all around us to produce the heat. They work extremely wellwith underfloor heating due to the lower temperatures needed to heat a buildingcomfortably, and can reduce heating bills in a well-insulated property.

All of this ison display at the showroom to help customers thinking about going down agreener route. In the current climate of steadily rising energy costs and thegeneral cost of living, these heating alternatives can offer a long-termsolution. There are various grants and tariffs available through thegovernment’s Renewable Heat Incentive scheme to help purchase both heat pumpsand solar thermal. Oakland is working in partnership with Devon-based Nu-Heat,a company with a vast wealth of knowledge and experience in design of systemsfor domestic and commercial clients.

Finally, inaddition to providing superb bathrooms and kitchens Oakland can also help yourefurbish your whole house using our design software and new, purpose-built design studio. The studio is a stress-free environment where you can discussyour desires, requirements, colour schemes and costs for your project.

The Showroom refurb so far...

Sorry there has been a bit of a delay in the updating of the photos recently. We really have been hard at work over the last couple of months. The build is definitely nearing the finish line and the opening is imminent. Keep checking back for more updates as we fit out the showroom furniture!

Underfloor Heating and New Floor

Here's the latest update on how the refurb is going. Things are moving along at a pace now and we have been busy laying in the hundreds of meters of pipes for the underfloor heating. Once this was done we pumped a fair few cubic meters of concrete screed over the top for a super smooth finish.

Don't forget to check the new website out. There you will find information on how the underfloor heating works and also more about the type of heating system that will be installed as it isn't a conventional boiler system but one which runs off a heat pump. It really is the way forward for Eco-friendly heating and we at Oaklands intend to be at the forefront of the technology providing you everything you need to run the heat pump and solar systems in your house.

Oaklands showroom refurbishment

Images of how the build looks at the minute. As you can see we have made progress inside and out. The upstairs has all the stud partitioning in place and is being boarded and plastered. On the exterior the walls have been part rendered and the steel work for the front has been erected.

January Update

We have been working hard in the last few weeks, battling with icy conditions. Unfortunately this has put us slightly behind as we haven't been able to get the block work in as quickly as we had hoped at first. We are one step closer to a sealed building now though as today we put the roof trusses on. We hope to get the rest of the roof on in the coming week or two. Keep checking for the next update!

Refurbishment in Progress

We have been very busy in the last few weeks clearing out all the old stock, and we are now underway with the huge refurbishment on the shop. As you can see the showroom is going to be a lot bigger by the time we have finished. We will have over three times more space for displaying bathrooms and kitchens. So we will have something to suit most budgets. Have a look at some of these photos, we will update the blog with the latest photos soon.

Shop shutting down for refurbishment.

At Oakland Interiors we are currently having a massive overhaul of the whole company image. This includes a refurb of the showroom, which means that come the winter we will be able to accommodate a much larger showroom with even more bathroom displays, also kitchens and bedrooms. Will be able to offer you the whole package when it comes to renovating your home.
